From the Bride… My husband and I wanted our wedding day to honor God and for all our family and friends to be able to celebrate our love. Jase grew up in Oklahoma and has family all over from New York to Alaska, while I am a Colorado native. We met at our church in downtown Denver almost 2 yeas ago and became best friends. It wasn’t until six months later that we decided to start dating and we knew that what we shared was something special. Seven months later, he proposed in the most romantic way I could have ever imagined!
We decided to have a November wedding in Colorado so we felt a classic, romantic vision with a rich color palette of blush pink and gold tones would fit perfectly. The weather in Colorado is so unpredictable, so we knew that our wedding day could be filled with snow or with shine and either one we would love. The bridesmaids all wore different styles of dresses choosing from the pink and gold color palette while all the groomsmen wore grey tuxedos and black bow ties. Jase, of course had to add his special touch, so he arranged all the groomsmen to wear Air Jordans! My wedding dress was all lace fitting with the romantic vision and Jase wore a pink bow tie that we found on Etsy from a shop in France.
It turned out to be a gorgeous fall day in Denver, so the pictures began at the Brown Palace then moved to a historic courthouse and afterwards we were able finish them at one of our favorite parks Cheeseman Park. The wedding ceremony was at the church we initially met at in Denver and we asked one of our mutual friends to marry us. The ceremony fully encompassed our love story and how God completely ordained it from the beginning. We wrote our own vows to one another and Jase washed my feet as a symbol of wanting to serve me in our marriage just as Jesus did for the disciples.
The reception was at Pinehurst Country Club which was a great size for the guest list and the flowers and decorations at the reception were absolutely lovely. Jessica from A Vintage Affair rentals brought in so many amazing touches to the reception from the amazing cake table filled with several different cakes from Whole Foods Market, a photo booth area with gorgeous blush pink chairs, the guest card table covered with a chevron gold and white sequin table cloth, and a creative guest book. The dance floor was completely packed the entire night which was one our very favorite memories! I cant thank Jessica Strong from A Vintage Affair Rentals for styling my wedding and Annie and Jacob Brooks from Brumley and Wells enough for all their creativity and hard work. Our wedding day was everything we could have dreamed of!

Kelli & Brian | May 26th | Vail, Colorado
My actual wedding day was something out of a fairy tale that little girls dream of. I truly felt like a princess for the day.
Photography by Gray Photography by Jeff and Jewels

Our wedding day was more of a wedding weekend with the ‘main attraction’ on Saturday night. We wanted an elegant mountain wedding and with the help of my incredible mother-in-law, my best friends and our vendors we had just that. Since our wedding was to be so elegant on Saturday we chose to have a mountain BBQ for the rehearsal and welcome reception where the dress called for mountain cowboy – “with a pair of jeans that fit just right”.

Wrapped around my bouquet were four picture frame wine charms that had the photos of my two grandfathers, grandmother and Brian’s grandfather who meant the world to us but couldn’t make it because they had passed away. We wanted them to be there more than just in spirit.

We hired a Scottish Bagpiper (celebrating my ancestry) to play while our guests entered the Chapel. The sun was setting and his music echoed through the valley and along the river behind the Chapel, truly enchanting!

The ceremony was beautiful, our vows came with ease and one guest said that it looked like we had no idea anyone else was in the room. My son lit the unity candle with us and made half our guests cry. The flowers and candles throughout the chapel set the perfect ambiance.

When the ceremony ended, the bagpiper entered the chapel and filled it with his beautiful music as he walked up to the alter and escorted us all to the reception.

The reception was so much fun and the attentiveness the staff gave me made me feel like a complete princess!! It was truly an evening of love and happiness.

Each table contained a wine bottle that was special to Brian and I along with a short story of why that specific bottle was import to us and what anniversary we will open and drink that bottle of wine. For example, the Head Table was Silver Oak which we will open on our 10th Anniversary and the story read;
Silver Oak. Silver Oak is hands down, Kelli’s favorite cabernet and vineyard, for good reason! Before Brian’s proposal he ordered a bottle of Silver Oak at dinner and while in Napa Valley, CA during their engagement weekend, Kelli and Brian visited the vineyard for an impromptu tasting. Their wine educator gave them a complimentary private tour since they were newly engaged! “Life is a Cabernet!” Please sign the bottle for the Bride & Groom, for their 10th Anniversary!
Every one at the head table signed the bottle with a silver sharpie as another guest book. For our next 13 anniversaries we will open one of the bottles.

As guests departed, we handed out cheeseburgers from McDonald’s.

My flowers were more beautiful than I ever imagined and everything was just perfect. I would not have changed one thing about our wedding day!

Katherine & Darren | August 26th | {Rockstar Venue} Winter Park Resort
From the bride, Katherine:
The weather was perfect all weekend long and the day of the wedding was no exception. The ceremony took place at 5:30 in the evening, after the ceremony we got to kick off the reception to an amazing sunset over the continental divide.
My husband and I first met in Winter Park and we wanted to share that with our family and friends who live in Maine and Indiana; most had never been to Colorado before. Not only are the mountains a majestic place to exchange vows, but it is a perfect way to showcase your beautiful state.

Our most special moment was on the day of our wedding when my husband and I took a moment to enjoy the sunset together following the ceremony. Shortly before I had met Darren, his mother had lost her battle with breast cancer so at that moment while watching the sunset, we knew Diann was there celebrating with us in spirit.

When it came to decorating our wedding, Darren and I decided to have fun with recycling & building. We invaded our neighbor’s back yard (with their permission, of course) and built our escort card stand, chalkboard and guestbook from their scrap wood, then jazzed it up with a little paint. We now use them as decorations in our new house.

For a personal touch from Darren’s side of the family, we decided to take his grandfather’s famous pickle recipe and make “Papaw’s Pickles” as party favors for our wedding guests.

When it came to dessert, we opted to make our own, our awesome friends and family helped us make cupcakes, cookies and whoopee pies. Of course, we felt our guests should have cake too, but we have never cared too much for wedding cake so we decided to get an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. It sounds tacky, but we couldn’t have been happier with it. Any excuse to eat ice cream cake is fine with us and we thought a wedding seemed like worthy enough excuse, it was Deeelish!

One of our favorite moments was our first dance to Taj Mahal’s “Lovin’ in my baby’s eyes” When we first met, Darren would make me mixed cd’s and this was always a favorite song of ours, we knew it would be perfect for our first dance.

Our advice: Don’t forget to take this time and enjoy the planning process with your fiancé. More importantly, don’t let the little things make or break your day, this is a celebration and you want to remember it as the happiest day of your life. I highly recommend getting a wedding coordinator or event planner, it is well worth the money to be able to enjoy your wedding day without any worries.

The Colorado Wedding District in Castle Rock seems to be meeting expectations after its first year, but the Downtown Development Authority would like it to do even better in the next few years.
The Castle Rock Economic Partners, made up of the town, Castle Rock Economic Development Council, Downtown Merchants Association and Downtown Development Authority, came up with the idea for the Colorado Wedding District in 2011. The district is based on a similar one in Reading, Ohio, which features gown stores, florists, bakers and caterers. The idea came shortly after mywedding.com moved its headquarters to Castle Rock.
The first gown stores started moving into town at the end of 2011. Charlene Meeker, executive director of the Downtown Development Authority, said the idea was to bring a recession-proof industry to bolster business in the downtown area.
“That focus on downtown has a ripple effect among the community, so having this district impacts the rest of the town,” Meeker said.
Since the start of last year, when gown stores Blue Bridal and Wedding Treasures moved in, the more than 20 wedding-related businesses in Douglas County coordinated and launched a website,coloradoweddingdistrict.com.
“That’s been really big since we’ve been able to get the word out rather than just word of mouth,” Meeker said.
Sarah Snyder, owner of Blue Bridal, said the brides that come into her store really like that everything is so close, as well as the easy parking and small-town feel of Castle Rock.
“I think it’s just a great concept to have everything within a few blocks of each other, so that the brides can go where they want,” Snyder said.
She said her business has steadily been increasing and she’s getting more referrals.
Meeker said she hopes to attract another gown store — she said there could be up to five — a boutique hotel and possibly create a new venue for weddings in downtown Castle Rock. She said expanding regional awareness that the Colorado Wedding District is a destination location will be important for driving business to the area.

One of our many beautiful brides, Brooke wed Shane this past summer at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Colorado. She paired her ruched ball gown, the La Sposa “Salardu”, with sparkly gold flats, a simple strand of pearls, and diamond studs. The wedding was elegant and sweet with a soft color scheme and natural feel. Their personal touches were based off of a French wine theme since they met in high school in French class! Suzanne and Kurt wed last summer with their ceremony at Chessman Park and their reception at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver. Our bride, Suzanne, wore a lace mermaid gown “Denia” by La Sposa. The couple used bright orange, yellow, and peach flowers as accent colors for their summer wedding. The reception was elegant and sophisticated, yet still fun…especially that dessert bar! Suzanne & Kurt | July 6th | Denver, Colorado
From the bride, Suzanne:
For our wedding we picked what we liked and didn’t get consumed with picking a theme or particular style. We wanted the wedding to be a refection of us. We looked at the wedding day as an excuse to have a great party, but as the day got closer, we realized that our bond was becoming stronger and our relationship evolved into a deeper love. Our wedding party walked down the aisle to the Talking Heads song “Naïve Melody” and we had the Lumineers song “Ho Hey” playing during the butterfly release. We ended the ceremony to “Higher Love” by Steve Winwood. The reception music was arranged by decade. The cocktail hour started with music from the 20’s and 30’s and by the time we hit the dance floor we were dancing to 80’s hits.

Summer in the Colorado mountains is a perfect time for an outdoor wedding. It is not too hot, the sun is warm, and the scenery is gorgeous. Our bride Anne wed Jeremy in Keystone, Colorado on July 3rd, 2012 at the Keystone Resort. Her gown is by Pronovias. She looks beautiful in the fitted lace gown with a sheer bolero and birdcage veil. The wooden cabin, colorful flowers, and the green scenery create a fairytale, vintage wedding to celebrate a beautiful couple. Congratulations Anne and Jeremy! The full wedding details and more pictures are available at Colorado Weddings Magazine blog online.
Anne & Jeremy | July 3rd | Keystone, Colorado
From the photographer, Rachael Grace:
Wen you know, you know. When Anne and Jeremy met through Match.com, it didn’t take long before Jeremy was popping the question in Maui. When you see them together, their eyes light up and you know exactly why they belong with one anther. With such amazing chemistry, just goes to show, good things come to those who wait.
